How to fix bad ram slots

Jun 13, 2014 · Broken memory slot So recently my colleague tried to upgrade the RAM in his laptop, but he ended up messing up really bad he actually broke the only memory slot on the motherboard (yikes!). He asked me to take a look at it for him, and I was pretty surprised how badly he had messed it up (as in there's no way it could be fixed).

It seems as though my Bank 1 Memory Slot is not recognizing any RAM I put in it. Here is what I've done so far to identify the problem: -Computer is agonizingly slow. I order two 4GB sticks of RAM from iFixit, and install the RAM without issues. -Boot computer, and it's now running much faster

i currently have some ram in my desktop that is 256mb and says ddr, 266MHz, cl2.5, ECC. my motherboard is a gigabyte GA-8VT00 and i would like to upgrade the ram. i have 2 512mb ddr 400MHz ram modules but when i insert them the computer … computer RAM upgrade stupid questions? Mar 27, 2012 · To check the new RAM wasn't defective, I tried it in slot 1, a known good slot. All 4 sticks of RAM worked in slot 1, so the RAM wasn't faulty. All 4 sticks work in every slot except slot 2 (the first black RAM slot). If I put any stick in slot 2 - old or new - the PC is dead, it won't even boot to the BIOS.
